Parentification: Caregivers In Crisis

Parentification: Caregivers in Crises is a powerful book about children who are pushed into adult roles before they are ready. It explores how children become emotional anchors, caregivers, mediators, and problem-solvers in families shaped by illness, stress, addiction, instability, grief, or financial pressure. The book names a painful family pattern that often goes unnoticed until it shapes a child’s identity.

Written with clarity and compassion, this book helps parents, educators, social workers, caregivers, and professionals understand the hidden cost of parentification. It shows why no child should carry adult burdens alone and invites families to recognize the signs early, protect childhood, and begin healthier conversations before the cycle continues.

Who This Book Is For

If a child in your family is watching someone they love disappear to Alzheimer’s, they need more than reassurance. They need a story that holds that truth with them. The Memory Box and Charlotte’s Big Surprise was written to give families exactly that — a way to sit with a child in a hard moment and make it feel less alone.

If you are navigating guardianship — as a family member or a professional — you know how fast the paperwork and the pressure pile up. Family and Professional Guardianship walks you through what you need to know, step by step, in plain language. It does not assume a legal background. It assumes you care about getting it right.

And if a young person in your life has been carrying adult responsibilities — running a household, caring for a sick parent, stepping in where no child should have to — Parentification: Caregivers in Crisis is coming fall 2026. It shines an honest light on what that costs them, and what families and educators can do about it.
